Account & data deletion

Leave a clear record of your choice, then move on.

Effective October 5, 2026 · Busted App LLC

Delete your app account

Use the account-deletion control in Busted’s Settings. If account changes are locked by an active commitment, first follow the app’s end-protection flow; that action can notify the people you chose. If you cannot access the app or complete the process, contact support@getbusted.org for help. We may need to verify your identity.

Deletion removes the active account and associated records and requests removal of the account’s VPN devices, credentials, and gateway event history. If the gateway is temporarily unreachable, removal is recorded for retry. You may also need to remove the VPN configuration from iPhone Settings.

Cancel an Apple subscription separately

Deleting your account or uninstalling the app does not cancel billing. Manage or cancel your subscription in Apple’s subscription settings. Apple handles refund requests through purchase support. A subscription lapse alone does not generate an accountability alert.

Stop texts without deleting an account

Reply STOP to a Busted text or open the private consent-management link saved after accepting your invitation. Choose Withdraw SMS consent. This stops permission for the relevant connection; STOP also applies across Busted program texts to that number. A text already submitted to the carrier may still arrive. A new invitation, consent, and verification are needed to enroll again.

You do not need a Busted account to withdraw. If your link is lost, contact support@getbusted.org. Do not post your private link publicly.

Stop emails

Use Stop Busted emails at the bottom of an alert, then confirm on the private page. Opening the page alone does not unsubscribe you. The preference stops future Busted protection-alert emails to that address; an email already in transit may still arrive.

What may remain

Messages already delivered to other people cannot be recalled. Records needed to honor opt-outs, document consent, comply with law, resolve disputes, or prevent abuse may remain, along with records in backups and provider logs for their applicable retention periods. Gateway removal markers are retained for seven days. See the Privacy policy for the distinctions between account data, gateway events, and third-party processing.

For access, correction, deletion, or other applicable privacy rights, contact support@getbusted.org. Tell us what you want changed and enough information to identify the relevant account or contact. Do not send your password, payment details, or browsing history.
