Community guidelines

Be someone your team can turn to.

Effective October 6, 2026 · Busted App LLC

Busted teams, direct conversations, shared progress, and weekly recaps exist to support voluntary accountability. These guidelines apply to profile information, messages, reactions, custom alert wording, and how you use the service.

Let people choose

Invite people honestly. Explain what alerts mean and respect a decision to decline, leave, mute, or withdraw from a channel. Do not use Busted to coerce, secretly monitor, shame, or control someone. Never create an account or consent record for another person without authority.

Check in without assuming

A protection-off alert describes a change in protection. It does not prove browsing, relapse, or dishonesty. Shared streaks measure recorded protection time. Awards and recaps are app features, not judgments about someone’s health or character. Ask how someone is doing and let them speak for themselves.

Keep conversations safe

Do not threaten, harass, bully, impersonate, discriminate against, exploit, or sexually target anyone. Do not post explicit sexual material, illegal content, others’ private information, spam, scams, or content you lack rights to share. Never use alerts or custom messages to humiliate someone. Busted is for ages 13 and up. Never sexualize a minor or seek sexual or private contact with anyone under 18.

Respect privacy

Your profile stats are always visible to the people you’re connected with. Share anything else only if you’re comfortable making it visible to them. Do not publish another person’s alerts, messages, progress, or profile information without permission. Busted cannot prevent a recipient from saving or forwarding a message. Avoid putting secrets or sensitive personal details in messages or alert wording.

Report a problem

To report a message, long-press it in a chat and choose Report. To report a person, open their profile. You can block anyone from their profile or the chat’s connection details; they aren’t told, and you can unblock them in Settings › Help & legal › Blocked people. Reports go to our team. We review reports promptly, prioritizing threats, child safety concerns, and other serious abuse. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users: we remove content, suspend accounts, and report content that sexualizes a minor to the authorities. You can also contact support@getbusted.org.

To ask us to remove an intimate image of you that was shared without your consent, email support@getbusted.org with the subject “Removal request”. Include your name and how to reach you, where the image appears (a profile or team photo), and a statement that you believe in good faith it was shared without your consent, and sign it by typing your full name. We remove valid requests within 48 hours.

Busted is not an emergency or counseling service. For immediate danger, use local emergency services or another appropriate real-time source of help. Our Terms of use and Privacy policy also apply.
